Description

Sheena, Queen of the Jungle is a pioneering fictional comic book character, recognized as the first female lead to headline her own ongoing comic series, embodying the archetype of the jungle adventure heroine who defends her domain against poachers, wild beasts, and human exploiters. Created by Will Eisner and S. M. “Jerry” Iger through their Eisner-Iger Studio, the character originally debuted in the British magazine Wags #46 (January 1938) and later made her first American appearance in Fiction House’s Jumbo Comics #1 (Sept. 1938). She was the first female comic book character with her own title, with her 1941 premiere issue.
