Description

Hold in your hands a piece of Indian comic book history — “786”, one of the most beloved and emotionally charged Special editions in the legendary Doga series from Raj Comics. This first original print is a prized find for any serious collector of vintage Hindi comics. The story centres on Mumbai’s most feared anti-hero, Doga (Suraj), who stumbles upon an elderly porter at the docks being terrorised by the ruthless criminal gang of Peter, who runs a brutal extortion racket with the full knowledge and silence of corrupt police. When Suraj steps in to protect the helpless old man, the porter gratefully gifts him a worn token — Billa Number 786, a sacred badge he has carried for decades. What follows is a high-octane, gritty Mumbai street battle as Doga dismantles Peter’s gang — only to discover the badge has a deeper significance: the number 786 links to a bank locker containing evidence worth crores tied to the diamond smuggler DiCosta. In the climax, the badge literally stops a bullet aimed at Doga’s chest, saving his life — the sacred number 786 becoming a divine shield. Raw, visceral, and deeply human, this Special edition showcases Doga at his most compelling: a street-level protector of Mumbai’s most vulnerable, fighting a war that the law refuses to fight.

Condition: Good to Very Good (Vintage First Print)
This first original print copy shows natural age-consistent wear from decades of careful storage. The cover retains its bold artwork and colours with light surface wear at edges. Pages are complete, legible, and intact with the mild browning typical of 1990s Indian newsprint. Spine is firm with minor reading creases. A genuine first-print collectible — not a reprint — of one of Doga’s most celebrated Special issues.

Authenticity & Value
Doga is one of only three flagship characters of Raj Comics — alongside Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruv — and his Special editions are among the most sought-after issues in the entire Indian vintage comics market. The number “786” holds deep cultural significance in the subcontinent, making this issue uniquely powerful in its storytelling. First prints of Doga Specials in collectible condition are increasingly scarce, and this copy represents a genuine opportunity for the serious collector. The artwork by Manu — known for his raw, cinematic, street-level depiction of Mumbai — is at its absolute finest in this issue.
