Description
Before Planet of the Apes made it to Bollywood, Pran Kumar Sharma took Chacha Chaudhary there first.
Chacha Chaudhary aur Banadaro ka Desh is one of the most wildly imaginative adventures in the entire Diamond Comics catalogue — a full-blown science fiction story where Chachaji and Sabu are launched into space, get knocked off course by a meteorite, and crash-land on a planet ruled entirely by monkeys. Not just any monkeys — a sophisticated monkey civilisation with a king, a general, warriors, and courts that sentence outsiders to death as foreign spies. It is Pran at his most adventurous: taking his beloved characters completely out of their Delhi neighbourhood and dropping them into something that feels like a fever dream of 1980s Indian science fiction imagination.
The story begins with Sabu receiving a cosmic message from Jupiter — his home planet needs him. Professor Jaak builds them a rocket. The journey goes sideways almost immediately. And what follows is a breathless adventure involving Raja Gagol (the monkey king), the fearsome General Bojo, a monkey queen who takes a rather inconvenient interest in Sabu, and Chacha Chaudhary’s brain working overtime to keep them both alive on a planet where the rules are completely different from anything back home.
Now look at that cover. A ferocious armoured warrior — the monkey kingdom’s general — fills the frame in bold, dramatic close-up, his expression fierce, his spear raised, clad in vivid red-orange armour against a blazing golden-yellow throne room background. This is not a gentle comic. This is Pran swinging for the fences. The title “चाचा चौधरी और बंदरों का देश” sits at the top, the Diamond Comics logo anchoring the corner, and the original cover price of ₹9.50 stamped on the cover — placing this copy in the very early 1980s, at the heart of Diamond Comics’ golden age.
Science fiction and space adventure issues of Chacha Chaudhary are among the rarest and most collectible in the entire series. Pran ventured into this territory only occasionally — which is precisely why collectors hunt for these titles with such determination.
What You Are Getting
This is a genuine vintage original copy of Chacha Chaudhary aur Banadaro ka Desh — a real early-1980s Diamond Comics original, not a reprint or reproduction. A physical piece of Indian science fiction comics history. Only 1 copy available. This is not a title that comes around twice.
Physical Condition
We are completely honest about every copy we sell. What you see in the photographs is exactly what arrives at your door.
Grade: Poor to Fair (P/F) — Heavily Aged Vintage Copy with Significant Surface Toning
Cover: The cover carries the deep amber-to-brown toning that marks decades of unprotected storage — the unmistakable signature of an early-1980s Diamond Comics copy that has lived a full life. The paper has aged significantly and shows heavy oxidisation throughout the cover stock. Through this patina, the cover art remains identifiable: the armoured monkey warrior in red-orange, the blazing golden background of the throne room, and the Hindi title lettering at the top are all discernible. The Diamond Comics logo and the original ₹9.50 cover price are legible. Surface handling wear and edge darkening are present — honest marks of a comic that was genuinely read and treasured.
Spine: Age softening and reading stress consistent with a well-loved early-1980s copy. Structurally intact.
Corners: Blunted from age and handling. The comic holds its shape.
Interior Pages: Warm-to-deep toning with age, fully readable. No missing pages.
Our honest take: This is a survivor from one of the most creative periods in Diamond Comics history. The condition reflects its age and the fact that it was genuinely loved — but the rarity of a science fiction Chacha Chaudhary issue from this era makes it worth every bit of that age. Collectors who have been looking for this title know exactly what it means to find an original copy.

Why This Belongs in Your Collection
Science fiction adventures are the rarest category in the Chacha Chaudhary series. Pran created dozens of issues with everyday neighbourhood plots — but the ones where he sent Chachaji into space, onto other planets, and into completely uncharted territory are the issues that define what made this series extraordinary. Chacha Chaudhary aur Banadaro ka Desh is one of those issues. An original copy from the early 1980s, with a ₹9.50 cover price, in any surviving condition, is a significant find. If you are serious about Indian comics collecting, this is the kind of title you add when you get the chance — because the chance does not come often.
